About Mrs. StrandMrs. Strand spent part of her undergrad studies at the University of Oregon, focusing on Journalism and History, and completed a Bachelors in History in 2009 at Portland State University. She then went on to the Graduate Teachers Education Program at Portland State and received a Masters in Education, with an authorization in secondary education and an endorsement in Social Studies.
She is dedicated to the achievement of her students and is passionate about learning and teaching U.S. History. She is an avid learner herself, and spends a lot of her free time researching and writing historical fiction. Mrs. Strand specialized in archival research at Portland State University and considers herself an amateur historian and genealogist. In the summer of 2012 she married Mr. Strand, who loves learning just as much as she, and together they enjoy hiking (when Oregon weather permits) and exploring the Portland food scene. On the weekends and holidays you can often find them cooking together, walking and hiking through local parks, spending time with their extended family, or you may run into them at Big Al’s or Cinetopia. They have a tiny tot, named K.C., who is super busy, enjoys cars, balls, and going to the park. Mr. and Mrs. Strand will be adding a second to their clan, December 2017. This is her sixth year as an 8th grade Social Studies teacher at Twality Middle School. She is looking forward to getting to know each and every student and their families, and contributing to their success. |
